The Ellensborg is the first ocean vessel from a foreign port to land at the Port of Trois-Rivières in 2019. It reached the port on January 7th at 2:24 pm after a 25-day crossing over the Atlantic.
The vessel, with about 15 crew members of Thai nationality, left the port of Lüderitz in Namibia on December 14, 2018 which is unloaded by Somavrac for CEZinc company.
Mrs. Danielle St-Amand, President of the Board of Directors of the Trois-Rivières Port Authority states: “To win the title of the 1st vessel, it [the vessel] must come from a foreign port, and must have made his crossing without making a stopover before arriving at Trois-Rivières to carry out a loading or unloading operation at the port “.
At the 53rd ceremony marking the arrival of the first vessel of the year at the Port of Trois-Rivières, the captain, Mr. Meemongkhon Choorith and the chief engineer Mr. Singh-Sa Suthep, received the painting « A port, a team » , by Madame Caroline St-Pierre, a painter from the Mauricie region as well as a basket of regional products.
Mr. Gaétan Boivin, President and CEO of the TRPA, recalled that Somavrac handles mining products for various mining and refining plants located in Quebec, Ontario and the United States, from its facilities at Port of Trois-Rivières.
